Transferring files with FTP Client

You can upload and download files to the remote CSS Linux lab with File Transfer Protocol (FTP).

Follow these steps to transfer files:

1. Download and install your preferred FTP Client. We recommend the following:
   • WinSCP: https://winscp.net/eng/index.php – (Windows only)
   • FileZilla: https://filezilla-project.org/ – (Windows and Mac)
2. On your local computer start the FTP client and login to the remote Linux lab with your UW NetID credentials.
   • Host – csslab1.uwb.edu all the way to csslab12.uwb.edu
   • Username – Enter your UW NetID here.
   • Password – The password to your UW NetID
   • Port – 22

For example, connecting to csslab1.uwb.edu machine using account csstemp1.

1. Download a file.
   • To download files you need to drag and drop the files/folder to the directory on the right side of the screen.
2. Upload a file.
   • To upload files you need to drag and drop the files/folder to the directory on the left side of the screen.

 

Note that the first time you connect to the csslab using the FTP client, you will get the following prompt.

Click OK to accept the new host key.
